Interior design of a South American restaurant

Situé dans une maison coloniale d’un étage située au centre d’une vieille ville fortifiée, ce restaurant/bar devait refléter les sensations d’un voyage au cœur du mode de vie caribéen, joyeux, coloré et exubérant. Dans le cadre de ce projet d’architecture commerciale, l’architecte a donné vie à un subtil mélange d’éléments modernes et tropicaux de façon à les partager avec les clients locaux et étrangers.
En matière d’aménagement de l’espace, l’architecte a dû adapter une maison coloniale datant de plus de 400 ans à un usage de restaurant et bar. Cet établissement comporte deux bars, deux cuisines et une capacité de 70 couverts. Cette maison était à l’origine un espace commercial d’un étage avec une mezzanine servant de réserve.
Afin d’optimiser l’espace et de répondre aux besoins opérationnels de notre client, l’architecte d’intérieur a agrandi la surface de la mezzanine. Il a également créé un accès à la toiture de l’édifice afin de le rendre accessible et de l’aménager comme rooftop-bar.
Le défi esthétique majeur a été d’utiliser de manière équilibrée un grand nombre de couleurs et de matières, afin de pouvoir créer une atmosphère particulière et unique à chaque étage, sans pour autant saturer l’espace visuellement.
Le résultat de cet aménagement intérieur est un espace chaleureux et vivant où les clients peuvent interagir. Ils peuvent se sentir dans un environnement tropical à la fois sophistiqué et décontracté.
Des détails décoratifs attirent les regards, comme cette porte rose vif au milieu d’un mur recouvert de céramiques artisanales de petit format couleur turquoise.
Les meubles en teck massif, les finitions en marbre et pierre naturelle, les tissus colorés, les luminaires suspendus et les décorations artisanales, conçues sur mesure et réalisées par des artisans locaux, confèrent une réelle authenticité et participent à l’expérience complète du lieu.
Located in a one-story colonial house in the center of an old fortified town, this restaurant/bar was designed to reflect the sensations of a journey into the heart of the Caribbean lifestyle — joyful, colorful, and exuberant. As part of this commercial architecture project, the architect brought to life a subtle blend of modern and tropical elements, designed to be shared with both local and international guests.
In terms of spatial planning, the architect had to adapt a colonial house dating back more than 400 years for use as a restaurant and bar. This establishment includes two bars, two kitchens, and seating for 70 guests. Originally, this house was a one-story commercial space with a mezzanine used as storage.
To optimize the space and meet the operational needs of our client, the interior architect expanded the mezzanine area. He also created access to the rooftop of the building to make it accessible and transform it into a rooftop bar.
The main aesthetic challenge was to balance a wide variety of colors and materials in order to create a unique and distinctive atmosphere on each floor, without visually overwhelming the space.
The result of this interior design is a warm and lively space where guests can interact and feel immersed in a tropical environment that is both sophisticated and relaxed.
Decorative details catch the eye, such as a bright pink door set in the middle of a wall covered with small handmade turquoise ceramic tiles.
The solid teak furniture, marble and natural stone finishes, colorful fabrics, pendant lights, and handcrafted decorations — all custom-designed and produced by local artisans — provide real authenticity and enhance the complete experience of the place.
